This submission is written after just one experience at Jun. I'm not kidding - one visit. And even after one visit, I believe this spot is well worth a submission.
My friend and I went on a Friday evening, about 7 pm a reservation. JUN was packed. Full of conversation and an eclectic energy. A very nice ambiance and I believe that we were lucky enough to be seated with a great view of the kitchen itself.
As you can imagine, we started off with some cocktails; an old fashioned. My friend had a local Fruity Pellets beer, which is a great local choice if you like IPAs. He highly recommended it. I took a sip - fantastic!
For appetizers we shared oysters, carrots, and beef tartare. The oysters tasted very fresh and the mango complimented it quite well. The carrots were surprisingly amazing (not a word I usually use to describe carrots). They were charred with a light cheese and a quail egg. The beef tartare also had a nice touch with the Buñuel and sesame flavor. For the main course, we had the fried chicken. I know...of all things 'Fried Chicken.' It was some of the best I have had in a while, very crispy with coarse peppers. We also had a side of coconut rice, a must try with the fried chicken! When you see it on the menu, don't dismiss it. It's fantastic.

On additional note: The house-made pickles. OMG. For only $6, this was nothing short of remarkable. We were told this assortment of pickled items were good with the fried chicken. It comes with cauliflower, strawberries, and I believe... cucumber? The pickled strawberries were really interesting to bite into. It was still somewhat sweet like a strawberry, but juicy in a pickled way. Some of it you may love, some you might just like...but it's SO worth the experience.

Overall, I really liked JUN and think it's a wonderful addition to the Heights. The cocktails are fantastic, the exploration of culinary diversity is wonderful. This is a spot where you'd want to sample new items at every visit. If you have an adventurous spirit when it comes to food, I would highly recommend JUN!
Five things to know about JUN:
If you can arrange it, consider sitting with a reservation that puts you at the chef's table overlooking the kitchen. Great experience.
The chef/owner Evelyn Garcia will host and take guests to their table. That level of care she gives in operating her restaurant is the same level of care behind every dish on the menu. That dedication to quality service emanates through the friendly, knowledgeable staff. If you see Evelyn, say hi!
Don't skip the desserts as they are epic too. I hesitated to order the brownie as that seems like a routine thing but I'm glad I did. It was light and crunchy. Accompanied by meringue and citrus sauce, this just blew me away. We also had the chef's take on donuts, I wish I could remember the name, but I sure remember the taste.
Don't dine alone at JUN. The menu is designed to be family style, so bring a group of friends and enjoy the entire experience!
Bring your phone to share the incredible ambiance with your friends on social media - Their decor is amazing! The magical front door, the trendy layout (tables and bar area), the cute plate and utensils, the intimate lighting, the soft yet audible music, etc. Share the love online!
