A little about the owner: Lisa Wong (the owner) started her journey as a restaurateur spans more than 40 years. In 1981 at age 18, she invested the $7,000 her parents had saved up for her college and opened the doors to her first establishment – Lisa’s Mexican Restaurant – to instant success! In 1992, she rescued Rosario’s from bankruptcy court, breathing new life into a neighborhood gem. Outgrowing her cafe y cantina space, she relocated Rosario’s two blocks north to 910 S. Alamo in 1999.

Their building is a modern, two-story structure includes 25,000-square feet of indoor and outdoor dining areas, a rooftop terrace & bar with stunning views of downtown, including the HemisFair Tower, Tower Life Building and Frost Tower, beautifully landscaped courtyards and numerous gathering spaces for guests to enjoy – including a private party house! or nearly two decades, Rosario's Mexican Café y Cantina has served as the anchor business for the historic Southtown-King William area. Rosario's uncompromising attention to its food quality and customer service has earned the restaurant a reputation as one of the coolest and hippest destinations in the city. Over the years, Rosario's has received national and local recognition for its contemporary take on Tex-Mex cuisine. Consistently, Rosario's has been named "Best Mexican Restaurant" by local food critics in an annual reader survey sponsored by the San Antonio Express-News. The restaurant is Zagat rated as a "Top Texas Restaurant" and was featured in a Texas Monthly article entitled, "The 63 Tacos You Must Eat Before You Die" with its fish taco listed second.

Now, about the menu - Rosario’s made-from-scratch menu features locally sourced ingredients and tried-and-true recipes that generations of San Antonio families have come to love. Described by Wong as “Mexican comfort food,” the menu combines traditional Mexican dishes and original house specialties. Popular dishes include savory shrimp nachos, fresh fish tacos and ceviche, a variety of piping hot enchilada plates, sizzling parrillas and the restaurant’s award-winning fire roasted salsa and chips.

I visit Rosario's all the time. And if you'd like a list of my favorites, here you go:
Chicken Chipotle Grilled chicken breast topped with creamy chipotle sauce and sautéed spinach. Served with poblano rice.
Anita's Steak Ranchera 10 oz. rib-eye grilled & topped with our delicious poblano pepper ranchero sauce. Served with your choice of enchilada, charro beans, rice & guacamole.
Angelica's Ceviche Fino Delicate white fish, thinly sliced red onions and jalapeño peppers marinated in fresh lime juice and tossed in an oregano vinaigrette. Served with avocado, cilantro and homemade tostadas.
Shrimp Nachos Grilled shrimp topped with pico de gallo, Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole and jalapeño peppers.
Enchiladas de Mole Two chicken-filled enchiladas topped with our very own molé sauce and Monterey Jack cheese.
Grilled Fish Tacos Pan grilled tilapia, chipotle mayo, topped with cabbage lime slaw, pickled red onion and avocado.
Parrilla de Fajitas Choice of charbroiled beef or chicken marinated fajitas, with grilled onion and bell peppers.
How's that for a list?
You'll find the entire facility very comfortable, bathrooms very clean. Food is exceptional. Service is wonderful. The energy is undeniable. What's not to love?
