While on my cross-country road trip, I scouted for a lunch spot and stumbled upon rave reviews on Yelp. Yellow City Street Food was the first place that popped up. So, I had to give a try.
This spot is fantastic. The first thing I noticed is that it offered outdoor seating, perfect for dog owners, and boasted an extensive array of vegan options on its menu. Opting for the Diablo shrimp taco (vegan) and the impossible taco (featuring deep-fried mushrooms), I was met with bursts of flavor and satisfying textures. The perfectly fried mushrooms, crafted from soy protein, resembled shrimp in texture, albeit with their own unique twist. Though I would have preferred thinner tortillas, the two tacos proved sufficient, though extra fries were available for the extra hungry.

I returned to this spot about one year later and my family came with me. Our decision to dine here stemmed from a recommendation by the guide at Bill’s Backyard Classics, a captivating car museum in Amarillo, Texas. Clearly, his knowledge extended beyond automobiles to culinary delights. The meal, which included the finest fish sandwich and a delectable dish known as "Animal Fries" adorned with caramelized onions, bacon, and cheese, was nothing short of heavenly.

My hubby savored the Bulgogi tac, featuring flank steak marinated for two weeks in an enticing blend of spices. The experience was elevated by the friendly staff, lively ambiance, and captivating music. Our subsequent visit saw us indulging in the dragon tofu taco, impossible taco, and the vegan Al Pastor. As a vegan from Austin, I've sampled my fair share of delectable vegan fare, but this surpassed all expectations.

Even my carnivorous brother and sister was impressed. The restaurant exuded a welcoming vibe, with knowledgeable and amiable staff. Known for its exceptional food and impeccable service, this gem of a restaurant boasts original, refreshing menu items crafted with meticulous attention to detail. A must-try are the irresistible animal fries. Who would have thought that Amarillo could offer the best vegan tacos? Indeed, the Dragon Tofu Taco and Vegan Diablo Shrimp Taco are simply unbelievable, with unmatched flavor profiles.

The Vegan Carnitas Taco also deserves mention, as do the Vegan Garlic Parm Fries. We stumbled upon this culinary haven during a family road trip, thanks to Yelp, and relished every moment. Though I regret not capturing a photo, the juicy burger devoured by our teenage son, the bowl of loaded fries bursting with meats, veggies, and delectable sauces, and my husband's Crunchwrap all left lasting impressions. However, it was my fries that garnered the most attention, disappearing quickly amidst the feast.
This place is amazing. Passing through Amarillo? You need to stop here. It's a must.
