Traveling with my daughter to San Antonio for a quick getaway, we stumbled upon Mrs. C's. We ordered chicken and waffles, a side of mac and cheese, and fried catfish to sample our favorites. They did not disappoint! Starting with a complimentary basket of cornbread, which was unique and delicious, we moved on to chicken fried to perfection with a light and crunchy crust. The waffles were soft inside with a nice crust around the edges. The catfish had a typical taste but was elevated by their honey hot sauce. Mrs. C's is a must-visit in San Antonio.

The first time we saw the San Antonio Express News reviews of fried chicken in SATX, we decided to try Mrs. C's chicken and waffles. Every meal comes with cornbread. First off, the waffles come in flavors like red velvet, blueberry, and more. I had the red velvet waffle paired with three nicely seasoned and crispy chicken tenders, lightly dusted with powdered sugar. Though syrup was available on the table, I didn't need it! The waffles were cakey and delicious. We also sampled their two-piece fried chicken with a side of fried okra and mac and cheese. Everything was excellent. The chicken was perfectly buttery, the okra was piping hot and well-seasoned (10 out of 10!), and the mac and cheese was on the wetter side, just how I like it, with a nice hint of black pepper. They served my ice water in a generous Ball jar and offered Pepsi products and Mexican Coke. My best friend said, "We will be back!"

The third time we visited Mrs. C's was on a busy Saturday morning around 10. We managed to snag the last open seat at the bar. Our order was taken promptly, and we soon enjoyed mimosas and delicious cornbread. However, we waited about 20 minutes with no food, so we ordered more drinks. After about 15 minutes, our food arrived, and it was so worth it. If it wasn't the best chicken and waffles I've ever had, I would have been upset! I used to think Roscoe's C&W's was the best, often visiting in California, but Mrs. C's is phenomenal! The chicken was incredibly crisp and flavorful, the gravy was amazing, and the spicy sauce was perfect. The waffles were huge and delicious! We will definitely go back again and again!

I love this home-cooked goodness of a restaurant. My favorite meal is the chicken and waffles. But any meal is delicious to me. My mom really likes the meatloaf and greens. Flavor for days! Mom loves it, hubby loves it, I love it!!! The service is always great when I come in and I love that. A clean establishment. When in San Antonio, you need to visit this spot once. And there's only one thing you order - Chicken and Waffles. Let me do what they do best at Mrs. C.'s.
