Taylor Texas - Best Beef Rib, Louie Mueller's Barbecue

My job requires me to travel a great deal. And sometimes, depending on my contract, I am able to rent an AirBnB in the area and reside there for about 2 weeks or longer. When we can make it happen, my hubby comes with me. And recently, we both traveled to central Texas (near Austin) and decided to use Yelp to find an ideal dinner that we could enjoy, sample and brag about online. And near Austin is a small city named Taylor, Texas. And if you've never heard of Taylor, Texas, it's located about 30 miles northeast of Austin, along Highway 79 east of Round Rock and Hutto at the intersection of SH-95.

Well, Yelp told me that the best beef ribs are located in Taylor, Texas at a spot named 'Louie Mueller's BBQ.' This is right up my alley. Later than night, we were driving to Taylor.

The moment you walk into this place, you feel as if you've stepped back in time. The floor, walls, and ceiling covered in soot from decades of smoking food. It's awesome. This is real Texas. We both ordered identical items - brisket, beef ribs, pulled pork, and a few varying sides. And I'm going to say this and really mean it. This spot was the best BBQ I've ever eaten. I'm serious. The beef brisket melted in our mouths and was so juicy & tender that we ordered a second order to go. The pulled pork was succulent, tender and flavorful - out of this world good. We were told, at the end of the meal that Louis Mueller's won a James Beard award. We were not surprised at all.

And then, we returned the next day (the very next day) to give the beef ribs a try. After all, according to Yelp, there is no other spot that offers better beef ribs in Texas. Now that is a tall order.

And I can say this without fear of contradiction - Fall of the bone, moist, delicious perfection. They really were quite amazing. I noticed myself longing for saucy fingers to lick after eating these ribs. More sauce, please, Perhaps I'm not a purist, but I want saucy ribs. So I requested more sauce and they brought me a small bowl of their sauce filled to the top. My hubby then ordered a second order of beef ribs and then I ordered two additional orders for our family at home. That's how good they are. This place has the most amazing beef ribs I ever had, and when I say beef ribs I mean the actual full rib from the cow is what they give you, its so huge! And hugely delicious too! The moist brisket is insanely, melt in your mouth deliciousness too.

Without a doubt - excellent beef ribs, absolutely outstanding but, quite expensive. $25lb for ribs and 1 rib is ~2lbs. Probably best beef ribs I've ever had and I've been to a lot of Tx BBQ places. However, it wasn't about eating on a budget. It was all about the experience.
