Before I get started, a little note about Tyler, Texas: It's a city in eastern Texas. It's known as a center for rose cultivation. In season, thousands of rose bushes line the manicured grounds of the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden. The Tyler Rose Museum explores the history of the city’s annual Texas Rose Festival. Housed in an 1859 mansion set in landscaped LeGrand Park, the Goodman Museum features antique furnishings and Civil War–era medical artifacts. Great little spot to visit. I love Tyler.
And when it comes to great food in Tyler - there's one place you MUST visit: Ruby's. I cannot get enough tacos in my life. I just can't. I've tried. It's a bottomless attempt to fill my craving. Well, this week I spent some time in Tyler, Texas and I asked the locals where to go. They all said the same thing - "Ruby's Mexican Restaurant on East Gentry Parkway." So I took their advice and I am SO GLAD I did!
When we sat down, we ordered the number 1 (Doblados) and the number 6, (a mix of three). Both options were truly delicious.
The doblados were barbacoa. Cooked to perfection. The mix three were chicken enchiladas with potato tacos and a fried chicken drumstick everything was good, delivered timely.
When I return to Tyler, Texas, this will be my go to place...and the only dilemma, is choosing the great meats to go with each dinner. Usually, my choices will be 'two beef, one pork and one chicken.' I say that because each one had its own unique taste and all very good. My favorite, hard to pick, but if I must I lean towards the pork. All were perfectly cooked and juicy. For the grandkids, they each got a cheese quesadilla which looked great and an eighteen inch cheese pull. They were excited and satisfied.

Then, before I left the city, we've picked up food twice and it was spectacular both times. Of course, I had the same thing again, plus an order of the chicken flautas. The fresh veggies on top are good and actually fresh! If they served beer I'd probably be there every day, and weigh a ton.
Then, just about four days ago, we stopped in...AGAIN. Admittedly, we LOVE the food here. This time, we ordered (and devoured) the Flautas and Quesadillas. Honestly, in most cases, I don't even like quesadillas but I took a bite of my wife's and it was delicious. Authentic Mexican food is served here. The horchata and mango drinks are really good! We ate on the cute patio. We will definitely return and we highly recommend this place.

Now, about the staff - the customer service is GREAT and they are always happy to see their customers. When you stop in and place your order, they truly never disappoint. The food is always fresh, hot and I never have to wait over 10 minutes to receive my order (I always dine out - food to go, baby)!
The staff was helpful, knew their menu and made great recommendations. When you're in Tyler, give Ruby's a try! You won't be sorry!
