Georgetown, Texas, is a charming city located in Williamson County, renowned for its historic downtown district and vibrant community spirit. With a population of around 70,000, Georgetown offers a perfect blend of small-town charm and modern amenities. The city boasts picturesque streets lined with Victorian-era architecture, inviting shops, and locally-owned eateries. Nature enthusiasts revel in the abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, including the scenic San Gabriel River and the sprawling acreage of nearby parks. And within this cute little area, there's a cafe that everyone knows about, and for good reason. It's called 'The Monument Cafe.'

This spot is a Georgetown staple for breakfast/brunch/lunch. It's a locally-owned and operated restaurant designed to be reminiscent of the Texas roadside cafés of the 1920's to the 1940's. Serving only fresh meats, vegetables and desserts, they pride themselves on serving everything fresh and delicious. Additionally, they pride themselves on purchasing as much of our produce as possible from local farmers as well as raise several vegetables and spices in their own garden.

Each morning the doors open to the early birds ready for coffee, sour cream coffee cake, or huevos rancheros made with fresh, free-range eggs. By the end of each day, they've served hundreds of meals. Each one, they hope, is as perfect as the last. It might seem like the town's entire population is there during any given day, and that's because the locals know a good thing when they taste it, and I'm sure you'll agree. They invite you to step on in, slide on up to our counter, order up a fresh-brewed glass of iced tea and explore this unique café in the heart of Texas.

The very first time I came here, I took the advice of a good friend who lives in Georgetown. The first thing I noticed is that this cafe is quaint, cozy, comfortable, lovely. Everyone who works here was so kind and considerate; from the host, who seated me to the waitress who helped me. My servers name was Gabby. Gabby was so attentive to my dietary needs, and the dietary needs of the other ladies at my table. She was patient, kind, and informative. Even when we asked her questions that made her go back-and-forth to the kitchen more than once, she did so with patience and eloquence and kindness. So much so, that the next time I come to the restaurant, and I will be back, I will be asking for Gabby as my server, because I am confident with Gabby that I will not be eating anything contrary to my diet!

The restaurant has a menu that is vast. There is literally something for everyone there. There's things for vegetarians and for meat eaters! Also, per Gabby, dishes can be altered to fit the needs of the customer.

The second time I paid this spot a visit, I brought a good friend. This time, I ordered the eggs Benedict with potatoes...and it was delish! I think if I were to get that next time I would get a little extra hollandaise sauce on the side but who's complaining?! My friend ordered the Migas and could not stop bragging about her choice. She was so inspired by the flavor of the Migas that she chatted with the manager and then took notes on how to make them at home for her family.

The last time I paid enjoyed a meal here, my husband ordered an omelette and then I ordered the Migas. My hubbie ordered a side of their homemade blackberry jam, but I am the one who ate it, haha. There was nothing but silence when our food came because we were thoroughly enjoying our food! We devoured the entire meal.

My favorite thing in addition to the yummy food is the old-school diner atmosphere with Texas flare. The lights, booths, counter, flooring, bathrooms, exterior, everything looks straight out of a 50s diner without feeling 'to put on' or pretending.

Stepping into this place is a lot like stepping back to an earlier time. The Monument Cafe is a quaint little spot that captures the essence of warmth and charm, offering a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and mouthwatering menu, it's no wonder this cafe has become a beloved local gem. Whether savoring a steaming cup of artisan coffee or indulging in freshly baked pastries, patrons find solace and joy within its welcoming walls. As laughter fills the air and aromas tantalize the senses, this hidden treasure embodies the spirit of community and comfort. Indeed, this adorable cafe is more than just a place to grab a bite—it's a sanctuary where memories are made and hearts are nourished, leaving visitors with a lingering sense of contentment and a longing to return.

It's located 6 blocks north of I-29, at the corner of 6th St. and South Austin Ave. and adjacent to The Williamson Museum. Bottom-line, the service is always amazing. Quick turn over. They don't take reservations and no call ahead wait times but it really does shuffle through rather fast without compromising service! Their menu is amazing. By far my favorite dish is the Chicken and Grits. The inside is super cute and surprisingly larger.

Give it a try the next time you're in Georgetown, Texas!
