Marioli in Northern San Antonio, Texas, is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional dining experience. From the moment you step through the doors, you are greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that feels like a perfect blend of modern chic and cozy comfort. The friendly staff sets the tone for a memorable visit, making you feel like a welcomed guest in their own home.
Marioli was founded by Mariana Oliver and Jose Antonio Jaregui after Mariana graduated from the prestigious Cordon Bleu. It was originally established as a fine catering company in Mexico City. But in 2002, Mariana and Jose decided to relocate from Mexico to San Antonio and bring the true taste of Mexico to Texas. The plan was a success and their catering company flourished. Today, this spot is well known for creating healthy, great tasting, authentic Mexican dishes and baked goods. Due to popular demand, they now offer food To Go! You can order genuine Mexican fare from Marioli 'To Go' and enjoy a wonderful dinner at home when you'd like to treat yourself to something special.
One of the standout features of Marioli is their commitment to authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. The menu is a delightful mix of Mexican-inspired dishes with a contemporary twist, all beautifully presented. Whether you are in the mood for something traditional or seeking a more innovative dish, Marioli delivers with a menu that caters to both.
A must-try is their cochinita pibil torta, which is a highlight of their offerings. The slow-cooked pork is incredibly tender and packed with flavor, perfectly complemented by the fresh bolillo bread and tangy pickled onions. The attention to detail in each ingredient shines through in every bite, making it clear that this dish is a labor of love.
Another favorite is the rich and creamy poblano soup. It has the perfect balance of roasted poblano pepper and velvety creaminess, with just the right amount of kick to keep your taste buds wanting more. It’s dishes like these that showcase the depth of flavors that Marioli excels in, creating a dining experience that feels both comforting and indulgent.
The service at Marioli is impeccable. The staff is not only knowledgeable about the menu but genuinely passionate about sharing their love for the food they serve. Their attentiveness and eagerness to make recommendations without being intrusive elevate the entire dining experience, allowing you to truly relax and enjoy your meal.
As for desserts, Marioli does not disappoint. The tres leches cake is an absolute standout, with its moist, rich texture and perfectly sweetened milk mixture. It’s a sweet ending to a meal that feels like a journey through the heart of Mexico’s culinary traditions.
Overall, Marioli is a place that beautifully blends authenticity with creativity. It’s a restaurant that leaves a lasting impression with its inviting atmosphere, exceptional service, and unforgettable dishes. If you’re in San Antonio and looking for a dining experience that captures both traditional and modern flavors, Marioli is a must-visit.
3 Things to know:
Street tacos start at 6 pm everyday. No, we're not kidding.
I recommend the Torta Mixta (Pastor and Bistec). It's served on a perfectly soft French bread roll where it was filled with meat, avocado, white cheese and Mexican cream. Every bite was filled with so many savory flavors.
Consider this spot for catering parties. You cannot go wrong.
