My brother-in-law lives in Grapevine, Texas and we spend about 2 weeks out of the year in that area. Now, Grapevine is close to Dallas/Ft. Worth but it's a bit of a drive. So, we possible, we do what we can to find great restaurants near his home. And we found one great spot about a year ago - outstanding Thai food at phenomenal prices - Sabai Thai.

Nestled in the heart of Grapevine, Texas, Sabai Thai offers an exceptional culinary experience that blends authentic Thai flavors with a welcoming, tranquil atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, the inviting ambiance of warm lighting and modern Thai decor instantly sets the tone for a memorable dining experience. The staff greets you with the kind of genuine hospitality that makes you feel like a cherished guest in someone’s home. Now, it's talk about Thai specifics - Pad Thai.  I'm sure you'd agree that every culture has a food they are known for, and for Thai food, that dish is Pad Thai. I believe if you can't get the most basic of cultural foods correct, then you certainly can't get the lesser-known, true cultural dishes right. With that said, Sabai Thai has perfected Pad Thai. I really mean that. In fact, I'd go as far to say it is likely the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten, and I can't wait to try some of their other dishes. When we first visited this spot, we ordered two things - the korat style pad thai and the green fried rice curry. The korat style pad thai was the best I have ever tasted and the noodles were seasoned just right and I enjoyed the sweetness of it. It was a little bit dry so adding that lemon was definitely necessary. The addition of the crepe made it feel like a new remix of a crepe with pad thai noodles. The crepe didn't have much flavor so it was really the sidekick to the pad thai. Both were outstanding and we knew we would be back.

Overall, the menu at Sabai Thai is an impressive showcase of Thailand’s rich culinary traditions. Their appetizers, such as the crispy spring rolls and delicate shrimp dumplings, arrive at the table freshly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully plated. A standout is the Tom Yum soup—a perfect balance of spicy, sour, and aromatic, leaving you craving more with each spoonful. The depth of flavors in this dish alone sets Sabai Thai apart from other Thai establishments in the area.

For main courses, the Pad Thai and Panang Curry are absolute must-tries. The Pad Thai is a deliciously executed version of the classic dish, with just the right combination of chewy noodles, fresh vegetables, and tender protein, all enveloped in a tangy tamarind sauce. The Panang Curry, on the other hand, is rich and creamy with a velvety coconut milk base that carries the warmth of the spices without overpowering the palate. Every bite feels like a harmonious balance of heat, sweetness, and earthiness.

One of the highlights of Sabai Thai is its commitment to customization. The chefs are more than happy to tailor dishes to your preferred level of spice, which makes the experience particularly enjoyable for both heat-seekers and those who prefer milder flavors. Their attention to dietary restrictions and allergies is equally impressive, making it an ideal spot for a group with varied tastes and preferences.

Service at Sabai Thai is prompt, friendly, and attentive, without feeling overbearing. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and provides excellent recommendations for first-timers or those unfamiliar with certain dishes. They also take the time to check in periodically to ensure that your meal is up to par, adding a personal touch to the dining experience that many restaurants overlook.

Since my first visit (I mentioned in the first paragraph), I've re-visited Sabai Thai about 20 times. If you're seeking something truly delicious in Grapevine, this spot offers a perfect combination of flavorful, authentic Thai food, a relaxing atmosphere, and impeccable service. Every single visit was rich and flavorful. Take my advice if you're visiting for the first time: It's the little things that matter: example - the flavor of the big, succulent pineapple chunks in the fried rice are great tasty surprises and if you're new to Thai cuisine, order the basil wings (they come with sautéed peppers and onions with the most mouthwatering sauce). Another 'first time option' would be the chicken satay - juicy and tasty. Trust me on this one - whether you’re looking for a quick lunch, a date night, or a family dinner, this restaurant is sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you eager for your next visit. Sabai Thai is undoubtedly a gem in the Grapevine dining scene.
