Happy July 4th, everyone!

I was recently in the north Dallas area for business and this spot (Hook Line and Sinker) was highly recommended by two of my clients. So, after my work day was over, I went here for dinner. The atmosphere is so neat with a bunch of fishing decor. There is a adorable, cool patio area that was spacious and comfortable. Along with my meal, I purposely ordered something that both clients recommended - the coleslaw. So I added a side order of coleslaw to my dinner with a side salad with the house dressing. I figured, just in case I'm not a fan of the coleslaw, I'd have a salad to enjoy instead. Both (salad and slaw) were phenomenal. The dressing was some sort of creamy lemon vinegar which made it extra special. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp skewers. There were peppers, onions, and tomatoes on the skewers as well. Kind of a 'kabob'. The grilled flavors were FANTASTIC and the shrimp were cooked to perfection.

About half way into my meal, the waiter said to me - "I highly recommend you try our coleslaw and I noticed that you ordered it. To be honest, sir, it's the best anywhere." Now that is not something I have heard before. So, I said - Sure. Let's do it. To my surprise, the coleslaw is tasty and sweet as an additional side, with tiny pineapple chunks inside. This is a unique flavor and I truly enjoyed it. I never thought that pineapple (of all things) would make coleslaw taste great. Well, it does. It's fantastic.

This is a very interesting restaurant - one of my favorites but a bit of a dive. I love low-key places, seafood and the south; this hits them all. Prices are good and, again, I love the outdoor seating.

If you'd like a quick taste of the Gulf Shores while in Dallas, this is the place. The fryers are going non-stop and the oysters are freshly shucked. The sign outside says it all oysters, catfish, shrimp and chowder. You can sit on the patio and enjoy fresh squeezed lemonade, beer and wine. Enjoyable, and quick. A true gem in a busy city - Perfect for me! When you're in Dallas (McKinney to be specific), you should pay this spot a visit...and don't forget the coleslaw!
