If you've never heard of 'Bob's Steak and Chophouse', you're probably not originally from Texas, LOL...or at the very least, you're not a carnivore.
I have never been to TX so when my husband told me a story 20 years ago he had to go to Dallas for a site visit. So when he and his co-workers decided to eat at 'Bobs Steak and Chophouse house' for dinner, I was a little concerned. They said to me - "There are two places I would eat a steak at that's Bobs and Bobs (the other location)", if you're not a big fan of beef and you eat here, you will be!"
And I must say, I'm glad they took me here. Starting off - from the excellent food to the pickled jar, bread and service...it is fantastic.
A bunch of us sat down to eat and I decided to go all out - I had the the porterhouse. It was so juicy and flavored so well with garlic. It was truly mouth-watering my friend had the filet mignon smothered in butter and according to her - "that made all the difference."
Then, about four months later, I was required to return to Dallas again for a site visit (to inspect the current construction of a project) and I returned to the same spot - Bobs. I had to. The first experience was fantastic. During my second visit, I could not stop taking notes. First of all, I loved the jar of pickles in the middle of the table- they were unlike any pickle I've ever tasted; zesty, garlicky, so so delicious. I could have nibbled on those with my entrée and should have snuck some home. If I had a big jar of these pickles at home, I'd snack on them all day and night.
After the pickles came....the bread: soft, fluffy, bouncy and buttery. Beyond delicious. I am continually watching what I eat, and I have to avoid bread due to the carbs. But that night, I made a BIG exception. Although I would love to say that all restaurants should have this level of bread etiquette (breadiquette, right) soft warm bread with a crispy crust and an accompaniment of soft seasoned salted butter, but if they did, I would be the size of a pick-up truck.

As you know, on my first visit, I ordered a steak, but this time I wanted to try something different and I had a hankering for pasta. Well, I can say this - it did not disappoint. I ordered the broiled shrimp scampi with bacon. From the moment it was placed on the table, everyone was saying - "Ohhh, I wish I would have ordered that!" That should be confirmation enough that I had made an excellent entree choice...but it gets better. It was an amazing dish. The taste: buttery, savory, plentiful, saucy and delicious all at the same time. It was a beautiful and bold bowl of pasta. I was very eager to share and I do believe everyone was very impressed.
Our side items and appetizers were equally as magical as the pickles, bread and entrees. Near the end of the dinner everyone decided to sample their onion rings. Apparently, locals clamor for them. So, we ordered the onion rings. One word: Giant!!! Then, we ordered the shrimp appetizer - gargantuan! And then, the lobster mac-and-cheese- amazing! One way or the other, no matter what we chose, it was fantastic.

Our sweet server treated the table (and one of our group who was a birthday girl) with a free dessert- the brown ice ice cream chocolate dream. We all received spoons and had a sampling - one of the best things I've had!!
But then, two months later, we returned, yet again, for the Tomahawk steaks. And what is worth it? Yes, yes and definitely yes. Everyone ordered the same thing: dry-aged pork tomahawk with apple sauce, garlic potato mash, and roasted carrot. Every bit was flavorful and cooked perfectly. It was so good, we returned to have another Tomahawk three weeks later. I have visited this spot FIVE times in one year. And every single time, Bob's did not disappoint.
By far the best steak restaurant we've ever eaten at. From the moment we walked in, we were wowed!! The service was amazing and the food was spectacular! Everything was prepared perfectly and came out to our table quickly. I had the surf & turf. Lobster was cooked to perfection!!! Same with the filet medallions. The server "dressed" my baked potato for me. (Um.. What?!!! Awesome!) Husband has the tomahawk ribeye... Also cooked to absolute perfection. We found ourselves nodding and saying mmm... Over and over LOL 5+ stars! So happy we came here!
When in Dallas...come to Bob's to be blown away!
