If you've never heard of Deer Park, Texas, you might not be aware that you've driven through it a number of times. Deer Park is a city in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. The city is located in Harris County and is situated in Southeast Harris County.

And although you may not be familiar with the area itself, they have amazing food options when hunger strikes. And one fantastic choice in the area is Pad Thai from a spot named MaiAsianBox. Now, if you're not familiar with Pad Thai, it is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food in Thailand as part of the country's cuisine. It is typically made with rice noodles, shrimp, peanuts, a scrambled egg, and bean sprouts. Some folks lover spicy Pad Thai, other's don't. But never forget that it was created in Thailand. They get the credit.

This is a great spot for Thai food and Asian fusion food. The curries are excellent. My son really likes the teriyaki bowl which is saying a lot, because he is picky about it and the entire staff is friendly and attentive. Great food, great service.

Throughout all of my experiences at MaiAsianbox, I've scanned and sample just about the entire menu. They have noodle dishes, rice dishes, seafood plates, milk tea and Thai tea, and curry. Everything is homemade and freshly cooked and served. Sure, it's small on the inside and parking is a bit of a challenge, but the service, selection of menu items and reasonable prices more than make up for that.

If you're a big fan of Boba tea, MaiAsianbox makes great one - they use regular cup lids for all their drinks, and you might find that the drinks seal well (it's my only complaint).

When I first came by here, they served us a small bowl of hearty vegetable soup before we ordered. It was fantastic. That was the first thing that had me hooked to this place. So, I started eating here at lunch when I was in the area. MaiAsianbox offers a lunch special, Monday-Friday, but they're not "lunch portioned meals", so you WILL be taking home left-overs!

Now, if you are a dessert lover, and you want something sweet, well....they have one dessert: mango with sticky rice. Nothing short of amazing. I can't wait to come here again! I often recommend MaiAsianbox Thai Food to everyone I know.

Now that I'm becoming a regular here, I usually start by ordering the Tom young soup and the Pad Thai with chicken. It's always very fresh and hot off the pan. You can watch it being made.

Now this is important - My only thing is the heat level is unreliable. Their scale is 1-5, 5 being hottest. At other places I'll get a 3. Here I get a 2, some days it's a 2, some days it's a 4. So, if you're sensitive to heat, beware of that. No matter the heat level, the taste is always spot on. But don't forget the mango sticky rice at the end of the meal. It's awesome. They're generous with the coconut milk, which I prefer. My daughter prefers it drier...and I often say to her - dry? What's the point, LOL. But, the coconut milk instantly cures the burn from the spicy food.

Now, when I need a meal to go, I usually order the Bánh Mì sandwich and it is stuffed and satisfyingly filling. If you don't know what that is, Bánh Mì (or Banh Mi) is a short baguette with thin, crisp crust and soft, airy texture. It is often split lengthwise and filled with savory ingredients like a submarine sandwich and served as a meal, called bánh mì thịt. Plain bánh mì is also eaten as a staple food. And here at MaiAsianbox, it is large, filling, inexpensive...and delicious!

Quick easy lunch with Asian options made fresh to order, I can't ask for much more. Decently priced and nice people serving up a wonderful meal. Definitely worth a try when you're in Deer Park!
