If you've never heard of (or tasted) a Frito Pie, it's a popular American dish that originated in the Southwestern United States, particularly in Texas. It typically consists of a base layer of Fritos corn chips (a brand of corn chips) topped with chili con carne (a spicy stew made with meat and chili peppers), and then additional toppings such as shredded cheese, onions, jalapeños, sour cream, or salsa. The dish is often served in a single-serving Fritos bag, which is opened and then filled with the chili and toppings. It can also be prepared in a baking dish or on a plate. Frito pie is known for its delicious combination of crunchy corn chips, savory chili, and various flavorful toppings, making it a favorite comfort food in many parts of the United States.

It's important to note that this business has a few locations, but the Cedar Park spot is my favorite. From the moment you walk in, the bustling atmosphere and inviting aroma of barbecue has you excited for my very first experience of true Texas barbecue. If there's a line when you get there, it moves pretty quickly...so don't stress. You'll also notice that the staff is friendly and welcoming. If the line is long you might even get a few complimentary tastes of the delicious brisket while you wait.

About one year ago, I ordered the 2 meat plate and got brisket and ribs. The sides I chose were the coleslaw and cucumber and tomato salad. The brisket was very moist. The ribs were dry rubbed, but they came off the bone with little effort. But during the second visit, I sampled their Frito Pie...and that changed everything.

Their Frito pie is fantastic. I've ever tasted was a symphony of flavors and textures that left an indelible mark on my taste buds. Picture a golden-brown crust of crunchy Fritos, perfectly complemented by a hearty and well-seasoned chili boasting tender chunks of beef, beans, and a tantalizing blend of spices. Each bite revealed a harmonious balance of savory, spicy, and slightly sweet notes, with the cheese layer atop melting seamlessly into the warm chili, creating a creamy richness that enveloped every mouthful. Freshly diced onions and tomatoes provided a refreshing contrast, while a dollop of cool sour cream added a creamy finish. It was a culinary masterpiece that transcended mere comfort food, elevating the humble Frito pie to a gourmet delight that I'll forever crave. Crunchy, salty, sweet and vinegary - just the right combo. Sides were pretty good, we got the Mac and cheese and a tomato/cucumber salad.
