Best Event Dining in the Woodlands: TRIS

About a week ago, my wife and I celebrated her birthday and we were staying in the Woodlands at the time. If you're not familiar with the Woodlands, it's a 'special-purpose district' and census-designated place in the U.S. state of Texas in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area. The Woodlands is primarily located in Montgomery County, with portions extending into Harris County.

Well, we both grew up in the area and most of our friends still live there. To celebrate her birthday, we decided to have a private dining event at the one spot that everyone loves in the area - TRIS. It's located on the Woodlands Waterway. If you're not familiar with that area, the Woodlands Waterway complex is really well designed with a great safe city feel. Super comfortable to stroll around and enjoy the shops and restaurants or concerts. TRIS is connected to the parking garage at 24 Waterway and provides great direct access to the restaurant from the second floor reserved spots to the elevator that takes you into the restaurant foyer. Atmosphere is slick modern cozy, feel without being too pretentious.

TRIS is a truly unique dining experience in The Woodlands, where Chef Austin Simmons and his team make you feel like family through their genuine hospitality. Experience the dining room for a quick, casual lunch or a high end dinner for an intimate night out. Take time to relax in the comfort of the bar for a had-crafted cocktail, craft beer or hard-to-find wine. Or immerse your senses at Cureight with our unmatched eight-course progressive tasting menu.

20 of us assembled in their private area and we can honestly say that we had the best experience we have ever had at any restaurant. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left everything was amazing. Our table was decorated with flower petals and a signed card from the entire Tris Family. The chef, manager and our waiter all came over and said, "Happy Birthday". The food was excellent in every way. The waiter's knowledge, attention to detail, the presentation, the quality of the food, and atmosphere was so above anything else we've experienced in The Woodlands.

The entire meal and every single course was handled beautifully. Some of our guests enjoyed a lavish, upscale entree while others preferred a top-notch burger. Everyone was eating, smiling, happy and laughing. Outstanding wine list as well.

Although I love the entire menu at TRIS, I personally think the short rib and the bone in pork chop were the best meats we added to the board. The best appetizers we had were the crab cake (#1) the lobster roll (#2) and the truffle cheese sandwich (#3).

My wife and her best friend ordered the Ahi Tuna and they said it had a fantastic flavor. Luckily most things are served family style so this made it easier to share with all of us. They decided to also order the confit creamed potatoes to the table and said it was an excellent choice. I also sampled my friend's dishes (as good friends tend to do, ha ha) and realized that I had two more dishes I needed to order upon my next visit. My best friend ordered the King Salmon and Crab & Truffle Pasta. He said that it was full of dynamic flavors, causing me to have serious food envy! I wanted to try everyone's order!

But the real surprise came after our entrees when our server presented us with an exceptional dessert board as a gift for our engaged friends. It was a mix of sweet and savory creations and the perfect ending to our unforgettable meal.

For three people at our table, we requested a specialized charcuterie board of just beef, pork and sausage; three serious meat lovers; hates veggies. I called in advance and spoke to the nicest manager who put it together, worked out a price and had it ready for our event. That's the kind of service I want - call ahead, work it out and bam. Done. We also enjoyed the extensive list of wine and cocktail options that TRIS had to offer. The sommelier was knowledgeable and provided excellent wine recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal. The staff at TRIS is truly exceptional and made our experience unforgettable. From the sommelier to the server and the hostess, everyone was friendly and provided excellent service from start to finish.

Take my advice - If you're in the greater Woodlands area and you looking for a unique dining experience with great food and service, then TRIS is one of the best places to go to in The Woodlands area. We highly recommend it for special occasions and intimate dinners.
