Best Coffee House in Katy, Texas: The Coffee Barr

If you're not too familiar with the city/section of Katy, Texas, it's about 20 miles west of Houston. Katy, Texas's local theme is - "The old town heritage is still alive, but new ideas, businesses, & families are growing & thriving in our town!" It's so true. From 30 years ago, Katy has triple in popular, activity and business. It's now a self-sufficient stomping ground for families, big industry, small business and thousands of eateries. And if you enjoy a delicious coffee to get your blood going in the morning (and perhaps a snack as well), I have just the spot for you - The Coffee Barr.

If you enjoy a nitro cold brew, egg & cheese croissant? They've got you covered. How about a red velvet cookie for the kids? No problem. No matter that you need - something, savory, something sweet, and something to wash it down with. This place actually feels like a home.

I found this place a while ago, during the hoidays. A friend of mine had recommended it and I decided to give it a try. I first ordered the Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew and my co-worker (she carpools with me) had the Pumpkin Spice Frappe. Both we phenomenal! We told everyone at work about it and then we went back at lunch and ordered drinks for the whole front office. When I was learning my way around the menu, I went with the seasonal choices and slowly built up an interest to their snacks, sandwiches and other delicious beverages.

This spot is a big plus for me. I drive all over the place, especially in Katy and I was looking for a coffee shop while I was on my way to work but also a spot that I could stop in, do my work on my laptop and feel undisturbed and comfortable. Well, this is definitely the place for me. Goodbye Starbucks...the Coffee Barr is so much better. Since my first several visits, I researched this place on Yelp to see what others are saying and my opinion seems to represent what others are saying as well. Starbucks doesn't have this kind of service. Starbucks doesn't offer a home-type atmosphere and comfy chairs. Even better, I love supporting local businesses. So, for me, this is a win-win-win.

After I found this spot, I was visiting it about once a week...now, it's at least three times a week. Whether I stop in while going to work, or coming home, I come to the Coffee Barr. That's how awesome it is to me.

Quick note: Penelope, the owner, is not only full of charm, but she works as a barista as well. Her delightful demeanor resonates throughout the shop - from the friendliness, to the décor to the service. It's really a representation of Penelope herself.

From the exceptional, friendly service to the fantastic coffee and numerous non-coffee based options, it's a pleasure to do business with the Coffee Barr. I highly recommended this place. When you're in Katy, pay it a visit. You won't be sorry.
