If you've never heard of San Angelo, Texas, it is a city on the Concho River in Texas. It’s known for its 1860s U.S. army post, the Fort Concho National Historic Landmark. Its restored buildings display original artifacts and weapons. The Concho River Walk is a long, green corridor with walking trails, gardens and parks, such as The Bosque and Kids' Kingdom. Downtown, Concho Avenue is lined with restored 19th- and 20th-century period buildings. One big focus of the city is Goodfellow Air Force Base.
And if you love a great hamburger, there is one place that everyone talks about here - The Twisted Root Burger Company. Just so you know, there are numerous locations in Texas. My personal favorite location of theirs is on the 300 block of South Chadbourne Street.
I'm not a big fast food junkie... although I love a good burger. My cousin in a member of the military and stationed here in San Angelo. Since I've been coming to visit him, I've been a Twisted Root Fan from the first visit to the city.
First of all, this is not your average burger joint; you can order unique and exotic meats as well as your typical plain beef. Believe it or not, some meats that I've had are Camel, Ostrich, Bison, Elk, Emu, and TONIGHT I tried antelope... and it was AWESOME! I can't afford to eat antelope often, but when I do, it's worth it.
Secondly, I started to order one thing - the freshman15 burger. Although it didn't fill me up , so I would order another one right away! It's literally THAT good. I was skeptical that it would just be average but man I was wrong. I have no complaints.

Then, about a week ago, I had the "Lots-a-Shroom burger with twice cooked fries" the best fries I've had in a while. I also ordered the kale and cabbage salad and fried pickles. After the third visit, it was obvious that everything was consistently excellent and cooked to perfection.
A heartfelt shout to the cooks for preparing everything to perfection. Our server Day Day took great care of us. Upon my next visit, I will order "the Millionaire and the cheese fries."
Additionally the side options to dress your burgers are wild - Dill, Sweet & Hot, Atomic, Ranch, and Bread & Butter pickles! No, I didn't stutter...Pickles ARE Endless!

Everything is truly unique, even the bathrooms are pretty fun.
Bottom-line, I love everything about this spot. From the kindness of the staff, the homey aesthetic, and especially due to the variety of delicious pickles. I was honestly really impressed. I would love to go back for another as soon as possible.
When you're here (and you love burgers), you need to give this spot a try!
