My friends and I love to get breakfast from here a couple time a week. And when we are in Corpus Christi, we always go to S &J. Not too far from highway 37, S & J Bakery sits directly behind 'Granny's Tamales' if you have trouble finding the spot.

First of all, the Kolaches and Cinnamon rolls are the best. The workers are always so friendly too. Sometimes there is a wait but its never as long as you think it might be and its worth standing in line for their food. Even when you see a long line, the bakery has adopted a system to get you in and out fast. But not only that, there is also plenty of tables if you feel like sitting down to eat your food fresh.

About the bakery itself: S & J Bakery opened their doors on November 17, 1995 in a small 900 square foot building. The co-owners are Susan (Cox) Wright and Jason Cox; a sister and brother team. The beginning was very difficult; it took every dime we had to keep the doors open those first two to three years. We have been blessed through the years with valued customers.

About 3 years ago, I moved to Corpus Christi from Amarillo in March of 2019, and I've had my share of Kolaches along with baked goods and fresh warm delicacies, but this place has swarmed with lots of talk since I've moved here. At the time, being pregnant, I do tend to crave Kolaches for breakfast from time to time and always end up at a chain donut shop to curb the craving but I finally decided to try out this bakery. I ordered a dozen ham and cheese and no not all for me, we had a luncheon and I decided now was best to see what all the buzz was about this place. First off, they open super early, which is amazing so thank you staff for your early bird dedication, secondly they do delivery, drive through and even take orders ahead of time over the phone! You guys rock! Secondly..... why would anyone want to just drive on through when the bakery has large open seating and smells soooo amazingly delicious! The staff is extremely friendly and the prices are amazing!

Now for the best part of S& J: the large and lightly salted round super soft melt in your mouth puffs of bread filled with cheese and ham are truly the best kolaches I have ever had. The employee behind the counter told me - "These are our biggest sellers" so I purchased one and ate it in front of the employee. It was so good, I ordered four more instantly. Seriously.

Originally, I grew up in a small polish town where homemade kolaches are considered the best.... and these beat them by a long shot. Honestly, there is no competition. These goodies win the taste-war. The only down side is this place isn't open on the weekends, but I totally understand why - the weekends give them time to take a rest while working part time to stockpile and prep for the busy week. Honestly, I wish I could take my favorite people to try the best kolaches around. By the way, I bring them to work from time to time and my staff loves them just as much as I do. They all rave about how this place is known for customer service and baked goods! And now they (my staff) is making their own drive to get goodies on Friday evenings to have for their Sunday mornings. Yes, it's that good.

Bottom-line: This bakery is a Corpus classic!!! Their kolaches are AMAZING!!! Their service is incredible! Each kolache flavor is fantastic...but the "hogs" are my favorite. The lunch specials are also magnificent - great value with great flavor! And if you love tacos, try the taco salad!!!

At S &J, the service is wonderful, each employee truly makes strangers feel like friends and the quality is worth twice the price. Get them a try! You won't be disappointed.
