I'm not a taco expert, my husband is. But I'd imagine this would be pretty close to authentic as you can get and will fill any taco cravings. We ended up getting at least one of everything as the tacos weren't too expensive. Half a dozen will fill you up and they do not skip out on the onions and cilantro toppings. The lengua (beef tongue), fried tripe and al pastor were my favorites. The corn tortillas are thick enough where you won't end up with messy hands.
The workers there were super friendly and helpful knowing it was our first times there. Especially as it felt pretty overwhelming with the way too loud music and long lines, but there is a seating session where it is significantly quieter. The line looked long when we got there on an off hour on a Saturday but the line moves pretty quick. A must recommend for anyone visiting the area.
This is a great place to get street tacos for an affordable price ($1.40 each). The music is blaring so it's not the best place to go to make conversation but they give you the food and you pay after the fact even though you order at the counter first.
The pastor is yummy but a mean shade of red, and the asada tacos were really good as well. The line moves fairly fast and they include onion and cilantro on it all. There's also a number of drinks such as Agua Fresca and soda you can order, but if you want water they only have bottled water you have to pay for. You can easily have a meal for 2 for under $15 without drinks!
The lengua was amazing. Super quick. Seems to be the fuel city of San Antonio. They will package it to go for you if you ask and you just slip around to the side to pay.
One thing I'll add is that they apparently have grill onions too. My friend got them with the radish and cucumbers and I didn't. So make a note to add those if you are so inclined.
Super friendly. And was quick. Will be back.
It's about four blocks off of highway 87 and next a 'Wing Stop' and 'Whataburger.'
Highly recommend. Don't second guess. Give it a shot.
