Indulging in a delectable dessert has an almost magical ability to uplift the spirit and soothe the soul, as the first heavenly bite sends a wave of delight coursing through your senses, momentarily transporting you to a realm of pure bliss. As the rich flavors dance on your palate, worries melt away, replaced by a sense of contentment and pleasure. Each spoonful offers a sweet escape from the mundane, infusing moments of joy into the fabric of everyday life. With each bite, the world seems brighter, troubles seem lighter, and for a fleeting moment, everything feels just right. And for me - that's a great cheesecake.

To me, great cheesecake embodies the perfect balance of decadence and subtlety, starting with a velvety smooth texture that melts in your mouth with each forkful. Its crust, whether traditional graham cracker or inventive cookie variations, provides a satisfying contrast in texture and flavor. The cream cheese filling is the star, boasting a harmonious blend of richness and tanginess that keeps you coming back for more. A hint of vanilla or other complementary flavors enhances the cheesecake's complexity without overpowering its inherent creaminess. Lastly, a flawless cheesecake is baked to perfection, achieving a delicate, golden-brown hue on top while maintaining a luxuriously creamy center. It's not just a dessert; it's a culinary masterpiece that leaves a lasting impression with every unforgettable bite. And I truly love cheesecake.

I spent a lot of time in a small Texas town named Mount Vernon. If you have never heard of it before, it's a spot with small-town charm and Southern hospitality. Despite its modest size, this quaint community boasts a rich history and vibrant culture that captivates visitors and residents alike. From its picturesque downtown lined with historic buildings to its tranquil surroundings of rolling hills and lush forests, Mount Vernon offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether exploring local shops and eateries, fishing on Lake Cypress Springs, or immersing oneself in the town's fascinating heritage at the Franklin County Historical Association Museum, Mount Vernon invites all who visit to experience the warmth and beauty of rural Texas living. And within Mount Vernon itself, the best place for an amazing cheesecake is 'Laura's Cheesecakes.'

Laura's Cheesecakes was founded in 1989 as the passion project of Mrs. Laura Bass and her desire to share the recipes beloved by her friends and family with her community. Today, we carry on her legacy by baking her original recipe, using the same quality ingredients: fresh cream cheese from Texas, pure cane sugar, fresh shell eggs and Daisy sour cream. In the same spirit of sharing, we continue to expand our community beyond our small East Texas town by packaging and shipping our cheesecakes across the contiguous United States (lower 48 states).

Today, Laura’s is co-owned and operated by Suzanne and Mitchell Walker. Married for over 30 years, they've always dreamed of owning a business that could be a conduit to share far and wide the same love that's been the bedrock of their blended family. For them, Laura's is about more than just cheesecakes. It's a reason for people to come together and share something special. The foundation of every great conversation is common ground, and enjoying a handcrafted cheesecake inspired by love is something we believe everyone can agree on.

Laura's Cheesecakes offers excellent and exceptional food and service. We were treated like old friends and feed well. My friend said 'Oh, We will definitely be back.' Not only do they offer a delicious breakfast, but they have dine in or take out, but you will want to eat in and stay awhile. The friendly staff and customers are part of the experience. Thank you Suzanne for knowing how to cook excellent food and combine it with top notch service. In this little town, Laura's Cheesecakes is definitely a treasure!

Originally, I thought they only served cheesecake. Last week I saw a lunch sign out and thought I give it a try. They serve lunch from 11-2pm only. Last week, before this blog post, I stopped by with my sister, her roommate and a close friend. We all ordered the Philly Cheese French dip with chips and I ordered the new chicken salad wraps. Today they also kicked off their fall menu. They had love music and passed out samples of their fall favorite cheesecakes. I tried the pumpkin cheesecake and it was good. I wouldn't say the best I ever had but it was certainly up there. My chicken salad wraps were perfect in size. Tasted fresh and light, not heavy with mayo. It was also served with sliced cucumbers and carrots. Along with a fruit salad. It was perfect! The music was great, my understanding it was the music teacher from Chapel Hill High School. He had a great voice.

This is in the heart of downtown across from the courthouse. I would love to see them maybe add some local favorites to sell in the store. It's so big and half of the store is empty (not being used). I bet if they sold stuff like Cracker Barrel I would be in here all the time. Service was also excellent, friendly and went over the menu with us. This cheesecake, and restaurant is absolutely the best and brings a smile to your face with each bite and visit.

The owners are the sweetest people and so friendly too! If you are ever in Mt Pleasant, stop by and get yourself a delicious treat! And if you can't make it to their warm and friendly location, let them ship you some!!
